Why I see China taking over the world in 2020

Calling on the Chinese to have faith and trust in themselves - Professor Chang Wei Wei.

1.  For the past 30 over years there have been many positive and negative predictions on China. Looking back, most of the positive predictions have been realised but most of the negative predictions have been proven wrong. Before the opening of the 18th National Congress of Communist party, a BBC interviewer asked me, "Will China convene the next 19th National Congress of Communist Party?" I answered, "For the past 30 years, I don't remember any of your predictions having come true." The problem with western thinking is that if you are not following their way of society and government system you will surely fail. In 2011, during a debate with a Japanese American professor, I declared that my understanding of American politics is that the American political system is based on pre-industrial revolution ideas and in fact the Americans need more urgent reform than the Chinese... 4 years have passed; I think that I am even more correct now. This Japanese American professor has now published a paper "America in Decay". We should not just worship the American system blindly but evaluate it properly.
2. I have worked and lived in western countries for a long time; and now I feel that there are more bad than good. In one of my lectures, a participant asked me, "If China is so good now, why are there many who want to emigrate?" But my research shows that 70% of Chinese who emigrated to western countries have become even more patriotic. In the past 3 years, emigration from China is 190,000 people per year. Democratic Poland, with a 40 million population had emigration of 500,000 people last year! Our democratic Taiwan province, with 23 million population (less people than Shanghai); conservative figures put it at 1.5 million people working/living/studying in China.

 3. If you fly from Shanghai Pudong airport to any of New York's 3 international airports, you can feel like flying from a 1st world airport to a third world airport. Stay in a Newark suburb for a night and experience why you dare not go out at night. I have a friend in Newark medical school, and he remarked that the best medical specialisation is treating gun wounds. You will have lots of patients every day. In USA, the society is like a 1st world, 2nd world and 3rd world living together side by side. If you happen to be on the 3rd world side, your life expectancy is just like Africa's (50+). If you, like many of our students, through hard work, enter the 2nd world, you become middle class. For the past 20 years your real income has not increased; and you will be worried about your retirement.

4. Economically we have progressed well; poor people liberated from absolute poverty is 80% of world total. Our achievement exceeds the total of all other developing countries put together. I can see China overtaking USA's nominal GDP in 10 years. If you talk of GDP in ppp terms, according to IMF, China had already overtaken USA in 2014. (72.83% of overseas post-graduate students chose to return to China) a total of 1.44 million people. But critics argue that our population is 4 times the USA's, so per capita GDP is only a quarter of the US. But, we should also look at other parameters, using average household net asset (ie all assets and savings less debt). In 2010 USA average household net asset was USD77,300; in Chinese urban areas this is USD66,200. USA is a debt ridden nation, and the people are also heavily in debt. In terms of average household net assets China is already not far behind. The second parameter is life expectancy. China's now is 75 and America's 78, New York is 79 while Shanghai is 82. Even though US per capita GDP is far better than China, for the average household net asset and life expectancy China is only slightly behind. The reason behind this is China is a socialist country, and the state provides tangible welfare for the people.

5. In China, the richest 100 cannot influence national policy while in US the richest 30 can influence the White House. In USA elections, there is no limit to political donations by corporations and individuals. So democracy has become monetocracy.

 6. The western world keeps criticising China as an autocratic country as compared to themselves. A cold war era satellite photo contrasts the bright lights of West Berlin (progressive democratic country) versus a dimly lit East Berlin (backward autocratic country). But today, Berlin airport is small and primitive and their night scene is way behind Shanghai. So democratic/autocratic is irrelevant. What is relevant today is GOOD or BAD GOVERNANCE. So you can have a democratic bankrupt Greece or Iceland with bad governance.

7. One important part of politics is the method of producing a country's leader, using meritocracy to defeat a western democratic system. In China, the basic requirement to enter the Central Committee of Communist party other than qualifications is to have minimum 2 terms as Provincial Secretary (ie govern 100 million+ people with good results).

 8. Look at Xi Jin Ping; he governed 3 provinces Fujian; Zhejing & Shanghai totalling 120 million people and total GDP close to India's. He entered the Central Committee only with such experience and performance. Another 5 years to experience national political, economic, military and social issues before he became top leader. This is the most competitive system in the world. While it still has its shortcomings, the system ensures that it will not produce a 3rd class president like Bush junior. My thoughts were quoted by The Economist in their article "What's gone wrong with democracy?"

My Final Conclusion: Chinese should have faith in themselves.

Leading up to the 14th football finals of GE Cup

Warning: Football parody.
Probably footie fans will be able to understand.
Image result for lopsided football field
Picture this:
It's a lopsided football match, held every 5 years, watched by 30 million spectators.
But only 13 million can cheer as you are only allowed to cheer when you reach 21 years of age.
On one end, you have the BeeNs, defending champs. They have won the finals 13 times in the past 58 years.
At the other end are the PakRaks.
BeeNs is such a powerful football club, they have tentacles in the Football Association, they even own the Referees and the Linesmen as well as the Stadium security.
They even got the Football Association to ban PakRaks manager for 5 years due to ridiculous sexual misconduct charges.
Can you imagine, during the last match in 2013, even when PakRaks had 53% possession, the Refs ruled in favour of BeeNs because their goals matter more?

But something miraculous is happening in this game!
The PakRaks are LEADING in this game!
There are a number of reasons why this is happening.
Understand this.
The Captain of BeeNs is distracted because he found out he has 42 billion spermcount and wonders which woman he can have for the night.
Their Team Manager, a big fat lady, who is the Captain's wife, is actually the one running the game.
Judging from the size of her hair, she probably has a bigger hairdryer than Sir Alex Ferguson.
Also, the Vice Captain is disagreeing with the Captain on team tactics as well.
In the stands, is BeeNs owner, who wants to sack the captain because he can't wait for his son to be promoted to Vice Captain. He also used to be the team manager for 22 years.
The entire BeeNs team is not united and pretend to play for the sake of their huge weekly salaries.

The score is tied.
PakRaks has possession of the ball.

Their striker, Pashadi, has dribbled past every BeeNs defender and now one to one with the BeeNs keeper. He rounds the keeper, and faced with the open goal, does NOT score.

He starts bringing the ball back to his own half and shouting,"Pass to Who Dude? Who Dude?"
The midfield, made up of capable dappers, shouts back at him,"Brother, this is the 21st century. No one says Who Dude anymore!".

The defenders are not doing anything to stop Pashadi. They always used to listen to their Manager but he's been banned for 5 years.
His Assistant Manager, who happens to be his wife, is just a stand in until they get a better Manager.

Pashadi now stands in front of his own goal and slots the ball in. From an open goal, he has now scored an
OWN GOAL!
It's a draw now.

Whistle blows for overtime, which will run out in 2018.
Question is, who will you cheer for then?

Speaking up for the majority - I am number 26

Just signed an online petition, in support of the Group of 25.
Take a moment to read why we must speak up. And then sign the petition too.

https://www.change.org/p/the-prime-minister-of-malaysia-i-am-26?utm_campaign=responsive_friend_inviter_chat&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&recruiter=42283461
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II,
owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come.

My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that everyone just wants to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of race or religion.

The fact is that the fanatics are the ones who march.
It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide.
It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill.
It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.
It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

peace-loving moderates have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving moderates will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like that example from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

Remember to sign!

A promise to insensitive politicians

By Lim Kit Siang
Dear sirs,
At some point in the future, you will depart from this world, as I will.

It would be a time of intense grief and mourning for your loved ones. During that particular period, I promise not to gleefully gloat over your death. I further give you my word, that I will not claim, that my Maker, unique to my faith, had a hand in it. Although you may not realise it, to do so is despicably cruel and completely unbecoming of any human being. Only a beast or an imbecile would behave in such a manner.

I also promise not to splash your morbid or gory photos in death over the internet, to boost my twitter and facebook ratings. You may not be aware that such a move does not bring fame, only infamy.

In addition, I give you my word that if I can’t find a decent word or two to express my condolences, I shall keep mum. This is because, to condemn you in death would only bring shame to me. I sincerely believe that I am above such behaviour, as most Malaysians are, save for a lunatic fringe of the society.
I will also endeavour not to attribute your passing to divine retribution, after all, who am I to pass judgement? I am not the Almighty, after all.
In the event you have difficulty understanding or appreciating the promises that I have agreed to undertake, I have little else to offer you, but my condolences. For it is truly a tragedy to be cursed with so little insight and compassion.
Very truly yours,
A fellow human.

The plausible and palatable story behind the Kajang by-election

Kajang: By-election or Ego Trip?

I haven't written about politics in God knows how long, but this is overdue. Most of my circle knows how much I detest politics now, but this would be good to clear the air.

Much has been written about Kajang. From political analysts to Facebook pundits etc.
What I'm about to write will not please PR supporters, but equally BN supporters will feel it in their gut that it's true. And hate themselves for supporting BN.

This by-election started with a DARE.

Somehow, BN and PR (as in Anwar) got to talking and Anwar said,"You guys talk so much, let's have a head-to head match in a non-Malay majority area".

BN said ok. Let's do it. I'm not afraid of you.

Anwar placed one condition. The candidate MUST be Malay, in order to gauge what's the real acceptance factor of either candidate.

One thing lead to another, PKR arranged for the resignation and we have arrived at the situation we are in right now.

However, BN did not go along with the condition. They are placing a MCA candidate.

So, what is the meaning of this? Is losing a by-election such a fear-factor for them?
Did BN even contemplate what is the net effect if a MCA candidate loses in a Chinese majority area? And of all people, you placed Chew Mei Fun?

What is she, a sacrificial lamb?
What will the election result tell the rest of the country?

As of now, you can see BN's election strategy, which is the old and failing method of character assasination.
Seriously BN, is that the best you can do?
Not put up a proper candidate, who can think and articulate well?

You must give credit to the Man, his strategic planning is superb.
In one fell swoop, Anwar did 3 things by picking Kajang, an area with mostly Chinese and Christian voters.

1. Stop the Chinese bashing by pro-BN media. Have you heard anything lately in the media from those silly NGOs?

2. Reduce the Christian victimisation by pro-BN media.

3. Allowed Kajang to be showered by election goodies as expected from BN. (WTH? An airport too?)

Anwar, despite the mainstream media's best efforts to the contrary, is NOT going to be Mentri Besar of Selangor.
He does NOT want to be, nor does Selangor need him to be.

To clear the air on consensus between the PR components, I was informed by my DAP chief that they WERE consulted on Kajang. Despite whatever news trying sow the seeds of discord between PKR and the rest of PR, the higher levels of PR leaders were informed in advance.

The only conclusion they had during the meeting was, if you're going to do it, please do it in one of the PKR constituencies.
Those who complained they didn't know is because they didn't NEED to know.

Answer me this question. Which army will inform everyone of their strategies? We are at war!
Jay Leno used to joke that if Al Qaeda needed to find out something about US attacking them, all they had to do was to watch CNN!

Now that, my friends, is how this entire situation came about.

To my Kajang friends, please enjoy the new hospital.
No need to thank Anwar, nor anyone else.
I've been to Kajang GH and it's at breaking point, ok?

Perhaps PR should engineer by-elections in every area where the GH is practically broken down.
Wait, that would mean all the major towns and cities.

Malaysia, a RINO country

Last year, our PM Najib gave the most important speech of his career during the Budget when he spoke about the rapidly growing deficit.
It was the PM’s most focused and deliberate address on income inequality to date, but for many it wasn’t nearly alarmist enough, for it didn’t recognize how far this nation has fallen.

It’s time we call it what it is: Malaysia HAS become a third-world nation.
LOOK AT THESE SHOCKING STATISTICS.

These countries’ exchange rate used to be

Hong Kong
    RM1 to HK3.        But today only worth HK2         (Lost 33 %)

Singapore    RM1 to S$1.         But today only worth S$0.40     (Lost 60 %) and getting worse...... everyday!

Taiwan          RM1 to TWD16     But today only worth TWD9       (Lost 44 %)

And look at our per capital income!! Pitiful.

Malaysia has become a RINO: Rich In Name Only.
By every measure, we look like a broken banana republic.
Not a single Malaysian town or city is included in the world’s top 10 most livable places.
Only our KLIA airport makes the list of the top 10 airports in the world.
Our students are rated in the bottom third in PISA math and science, and some 30 countries have longer life expectancy and lower rates of infant mortality.
The only things Malaysia is number one in these days are the number of snatch thefts per day and adult heart disease.

Four decades of trickledown economics; the monopolization, privatization and deregulation of industry; and the destruction of the labor market has resulted in 5 million Malaysians living in poverty based on 2009's HIBAS survey, while the 50 richest individuals own more than one-third of the nation’s wealth.
As the four richest Malaysians enjoy a higher net worth than the bottom 40 percent, our nation’s sense of food insecurity is more on par with developing countries like Indonesia and Tanzania than with OECD nations like Australia and Canada.
In fact, the percentage of Malaysians who say they have insurmountable household debt at some point in the last year is three times that of Germany, more than twice than Italy and Canada.
The destruction of labor has been so comprehensive that first-world nations now offshore their call center jobs to Malaysia.
In other words, we’ve become the new India.
Foreign companies now see us as the world’s cheap labor force, and we have our economic policies to thank for that.
In Sweden, the minimum wage is $19 per hour and workers enjoy a minimum of five weeks paid vacation every year.
In Malaysia. the minimum wage is a tick above RM3.40 per hour and workers can expect no more than 12 days of annual leave.
So guess what?
The likes of Honda, Toyota etc have all set up in Thailand to take advantage of the our ever-changing automotive policy.
Moreover, the profits of these foreign companies goes toward stimulating their economies instead of ours.
So, it’s amusing when right-wingers blame our failures on liberal policies because nothing could be further from the truth.
We are faling behind into a third-world banana republic.
A business model that the rest of the country is forced to compete with i.e. lower wages, low corporate tax rates, low property taxes, and low environmental and labor protection, which results in a migration of industry and jobs from our country, which means a shrinking of the tax revenue base.
Take this as an illustration of how we are in a never-ending death spiral race to the bottom.
Not only is the middle-class fast becoming the working poor, but upward mobility is becoming almost impossible to attain.
At a time when Malaysia should be investing in its own future, it is dealing with a sequestration that was never meant to have happened.
It happened because politicians would rather destroy the economy than see a meritocracy policy succeed.
THE COUNTRY HAS NOT LOST A DECADE, BUT HAS LOST TWO GENERATIONS
The signs foretell that Malaysia will be left behind during the rise of Asia.
There was mass migration of talent, shameful waste of human capital through a faulty educational system which discouraged meritocracy and mass migration of skilled people to countries like  Australia and Singapore.

MALAYSIA       406 1,805 3,099 3,701   7,000

THE FIGURES TELL THE STORY OF HOW MALAYSIA FELL FAR BEHIND THE ‘FOUR ASIAN TIGERS’.
From 1981 to 2011, a period of 30 years, we had leaders who lived in their own world, and implemented policies which drove away investors, and depended on the revenue from oil and commodities to fund the restructuring of the economy and so that there would be no identification of race with economy.

HOW DID  SOUTH KOREA , TAIWAN, HONG KONG AND SINGAPORE  BECOME THE ASIAN TIGERS?
BECAUSE THEY EMBRACED FREE MARKET POLICIES.
Analysts say that between 1980 and 2005, the world embraced free market policies. These caused living standards to rise sharply, educational standards rose, poverty declined and democracy improved, and life expectancy rose.
China is the leading example of the miraculous effects of free market policies launched in 1978.
Coming to the end of 2013, EVEN INDONESIA, THAILAND & VIETNAM ARE AHEAD OF US!!!!

Robust public investment had been a key to Malaysian prosperity in the previous century.
It was then considered a basic part of the social contract as well as of Economics 101.
As just about everyone knew in those days, citizens paid taxes to fund worthy initiatives that the private sector wouldn’t adequately or efficiently supply.
Roadways and agriculture research were examples.
The resulting world-class infrastructure, educated workforce, and technological revolution fed a robust private sector.
But only during that time.
Malaysia is in urgent need of significant investment.
We need to not be stuck in a stale debate from two years ago or three years ago.
A relentlessly growing deficit of opportunity is a bigger threat to our future than our rapidly shrinking fiscal deficit.
That’s one part of the solution.
A higher minimum wage; higher taxes on corporations and the rich; and a greater percentage of the labor force protected against inflation will help restore the Malaysia whose middle-class was once the envy of Asia, and whose people were among the happiest and healthiest on the planet
